Why I love Butternut Squash and My Monkey’s Name is Jennifer
Wowzer, how many in-jokes can I fit into one comic?
For those that have comic reading habits similar to mine, this is probably quite funny. For those that only ever read Dear Pirate, I imagine that this is quite strange, and because you’re a Dear Pirate reader, you’re still thinking it to be quite funny.
First, no, that is not what Monkey Pirate will be looking like. That is in fact Jennifer, from the spectacular comic My Monkey’s Name is Jennifer. It’s extra funny when you realize that that’s an ape, not a monkey, and that Ken Knudtsen knew that. For that matter, Jennifer is a male ape, too.
But the standing comatose guy with a dog on a leash? The guy is indeed a guy, while the dog is a girl (I shudder about how I know this). Still, that’s Rob and Cola from Butternutsquash. I would like to warn those that this is not an all-ages link. But for those that are old enough (somewhere just above a PG-13 rating), it’s quite hilarious and far better art than, well, this strip (even with the redesigns).
